Twilight Heroes

Twilight Heroes is a standard text stand alone non-commercial RPG with an attractive lay-out. The game is written and developed by its creator Rhyme.

General: the game's basic concept is for you to fill a hero's shoes.
The adventures are quite funny (to the point of being silly) and sometimes very surprising. The heroes' skills are varied (according to their classes):

• Elemental—The elemental hero fights crime with a mastery of the four elements. Earth, air, fire, and water all obey the heroes' wills and make them a force to be reckoned with. Just don't ask them to light a cigarette for you—they really get sick of that.
  
• Gadgeteer—The gadgeteer's specialty is always having the right tool for the job. Natural inventiveness provides gadgeteer heroes with an array of gadgets and gizmos to help them navigate through life's—and their enemies'—obstacles. If you like playing with toys then this is your calling.
  
• Naturalist—Naturalist heroes have great physical strength, but their greatest skill is their ability to channel the powers of numerous wild animals. Not only can they drink like a fish and snore like a bear, but they will sting like a butterfly and float like a bee. Or, um, the other way around.
  
• Psion-The psion hero relies on the power of the mind. A masterful intellect combines with telekinetic and psychic powers to make a powerful crime-fighting hero. If you knew I was going to say that then the Psion hero is probably for you.
  
• There are ways to change classes in the game, through a feature of your Hideout, so if you don't like the one you've chosen or want to try something different, you'll have that option. Changing classes will set you back to level 1 and reset all your stats, but you will keep all your money and items. This can be a great way to try the game from a different perspective.

The game has a standard 24 hr roll-over tempo, a multi-channel chat, multis (alts) are allowed (1 per account), a standard forum and it has an independent wiki with lots of player input. One of the most awaited features is a sort of character ascension mechanism... This game remains in a perpetual beta stadium even though very few bugs can be found! The game has a unique PVP system where all players start out at the same level with an apart set of weapons & armor, and there are some greasemonkey scripts available to heighten the game experience.
